What is THCA , THCA stands for tetrahydrocannabinolic acid.

It is one of the cannabinoid compounds produced naturally by the cannabis plant. In freshly harvested cannabis, much of the cannabinoid content exists in acidic forms such as THCA rather than as the neutral THC molecule.

As cannabis dries, ages, or is exposed to heat, chemical changes can occur. The most important process for understanding THCA is decarboxylation.

THCA is not simply “inactive THC.” It is a distinct molecule with its own pharmacological profile. Because its shape prevents it from binding efficiently to CB1 receptors in the brain, consuming raw THCA does not produce intoxication.
